Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon to field boy's and girl's high school lacrosse teams in 2027 inaugural NIAA-sanctioned season
Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon is proud to announce it will field both boys’ and girls’ high school lacrosse teams beginning Spring 2027, participating in the inaugural season of Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA)–sanctioned lacrosse.
Pirates Lacrosse Club, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019 alongside the opening of Pinecrest Sloan Canyon, has long served Pinecrest students and the surrounding community. As an original club sport, Pirates Lacrosse has fielded Boys High School, 14U, 12U, 10U, and Girls Middle School teams, serving more than 200 athletes annually.
Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Principal Lisa Satory stated, “I am thrilled and deeply optimistic about lacrosse becoming a sanctioned sport in the state of Nevada. This is an exciting step forward—not only for student-athletes who are passionate about the game, but also for the continued growth and diversification of our athletic program as a whole.”
Principal Satory continued, “the addition of lacrosse reflects our commitment to expanding opportunities for students to compete, lead, and excel. We hold high expectations for this program from its very beginning—expectations rooted in hard work, sportsmanship, academic accountability, and competitive success. I am confident that our student-athletes and coaching staff will rise to the challenge and establish a program that represents our school with pride.”
While NIAA-sanctioned high school lacrosse will officially begin in Spring 2027, Pirates Lacrosse will continue to field Boys HS, 14U, 12U, 10U, and Girls MS teams during the Spring 2026 season, ensuring competitive opportunities for Pinecrest Sloan Canyon students and athletes throughout the community. Lacrosse is particularly well-suited for multi-sport athletes seeking to further develop transferable skills such as speed, agility, coordination, and field awareness.
Boys High School Head Lacrosse Coach and Pinecrest Sloan Canyon teacher Jeremy Sieverts shared, “We are thrilled that the NIAA has sanctioned high school lacrosse and grateful for Pinecrest Sloan Canyon’s continued support as we prepare for the inaugural 2027 season.”
Sieverts brings more than a decade of high school coaching experience and a distinguished playing career, including 10 years of professional lacrosse. He is a five-time professional lacrosse champion, two-time All-Pro midfielder, and served as a team captain at the University of Maryland.
Pirates Lacrosse Club will continue to support Pinecrest Sloan Canyon High School Lacrosse while maintaining strong middle school and youth programming for Pinecrest students and the broader community.

Pinecrest Sloan Canyon is a 15-Star, tuition-free charter school open to students across the Las Vegas Valley with no geographic address requirement for enrollment, and bus transportation serving the surrounding community including Green Valley, Seven Hills, Anthem, Inspirada, Southern Highlands, and Mountains Edge. Open Enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year runs from January 2 through February 28, 2026.
